The Reservior of Knowlege

During the late 70′s, I used to attend ‘The Sonny Hill, and John Chaney Basketball Camp’ at Cheney State University in Pa. for 1 week every summer.  It was here where I gained many insights to the game of basketball, but there was phrase coined by Sonny Hill, “Drink from The Reservoir of Knowledge”, that still resonates today.

While I was only a marginal player at best, this was a great way for me to get away and stay out of trouble. At the camp we would do all types of individual basketball and conditioning drills and every now and then, we would get a chance to watch either pro or college players working out at the facility getting ready for their upcoming seasons.

One thing that stood out to me was, how each player had a systematic workout where each drill focused on a different aspect of their game. This is where I learned how using systems can help get certain tedious tasks done.

Ex… The best way for me to save any money is to have it systematically deducted from my paycheck… before I can see it or touch it.

So what does this have to do with anything now?

Right now… I’m immersed in learning ‘everything social media’ by listening to different experts in the field. I am able to download podcasts and audio books on social madia to listen to while at work, so the knowledge is flowing.

You see… I’m still drinking from the reservoir of knowledge.

What do you do? How do you stay plugged in to your interests?
