Here are three baby steps to getting organized with using social media. I will break this article down to Steps or actions that you WILL need to take in the ORDER that they are LISTED.

STEP 1. Sign up for Gmail The first thing that you need to do is set up a new Gmail account. This is where you will receive all messages from your network of friends.

Go to – > http://mail.google.com

If at all possible, I suggest you try to get your name or at least an abbreviated version of it. This is an important aspect of branding yourself, I know that your company is great, but the idea is to get people to come to you.

Step 2. Create a label
In this exercise we will create a label for Twitter or you can substitute whatever network you wish.

Login to your Gmail, on the right hand side scroll down to Labels

Click on the link -> Edit Labels

Next you will see a box -> Create a new label:

Type in ->Twitter -> in the box and click on -> Create

Now you have created a label for Twitter.

Step 3. Create a filter
The next thing that we want to do is create a filter for our Twitter label. Look right above where your label for twitter is listed, you will see Settings.

Go past the links to General, Accounts, Labels and you will see Filters.

Click on the link -> Filters

Then clock on -> Create a new filter

A new text box will open at the top of the page

In the from field type in -> Twitter

Go down and click -> Next Step

Make sure that you check the box -> Apply the label

Right next to this there is a tab -> New Label

Click on the tab and highlight -> Twitter

Go down to the bottom and click -> Create Filter

In the next post I’ll show you how you can cut down your time surfing on the Internet.
