My take on Mile Vic ((Philly Sports, Eagles))

For the last few weeks I’ve been pretty stressed out from life, work etcetera… So I haven’t updated this blog in a while.

This is a post I wrote about a month ago about the Mike Vick situation.

One day while monitoring Twitter, I noticed a sarcastic tweet about torturing Mike Vic if he didn’t do well on Sunday.

(You can use the #Eagles hashtag to follow breaking Eagles news and updates on Twitter.)

First of all… let me get this out of the way, dog fighting is both a cruel and horrifying act and I do not condone it!

Is that clear enough?

Okay, now follow me…

I was compelled to respond to this tweet and was later labeled as a “dog killing enthusiast.”

Why?

I never endorsed dog fighting or down played Mike Vic’s guilt. My problem is with torture period.

Does that make sense?

Why are we soo outraged by the torturing of animals but able to joke about torturing a human being like it’s nothing?

What’s your take? Did I overreact?

Philly Sports – #Eagles Let’s show some love.

Here is a quote from Jeff McLane’s article Cheer or Boo McNabb?

“Coach Andy Reid said that he had no idea what kind of reception McNabb will get Sunday when the Eagles host the Redskins.”

My Take: I don’t understand why, but some people hate this guy with a passion. If I mention the name “McNabb” to some people, it’s on… and quite frankly I don’t get it.

I’ve been told that:

He is the most overrated QB ever…. ???

When the Eagles traded AJ Feeley to Miami, that they traded the wrong QB…. No comment..

He is no better than Cordell Stewart (Slash). Again, no comment

The Defense carried the team during their NFC championship run… If the defense was that good, why didn’t they finish the job and carry us to a SuperBowl win?

Now don’t get me wrong, DMac has flaws in his game but who doesn’t?

I never felt Donovan was an elite QB on the level of Manning and Brady but in his prime he was a pretty damn good one.

During his last two seasons here, it seemed that regardless of what happened in the game it was always Donovan’s fault.

He would be criticized for that bad pass he made during the first quarter of a game that the Eagles eventually won.

Personally, I don’t think that he gets enough credit for is how he covered up a lot of the team’s weaknesses during their run.

But most importantly, he rescued me from the annual taunts from the Cowboy, Giants’ and Redskins’ fans. To say I took abuse was an understatement… But I digress.

I hope that the Philly faithful show appreciation and give him a nice ovation…. You know that the national media can’t wait to cast us in a negative way.

Philly Sports – #Eagles and NFC fantasy football news

From FantasyFootballStarters,

“Kolb could miss next week too and while a QB controversy is brewing, I think it more likely the Eagles would rather trade Vick before the trade deadline to a team looking for an upgrade.”

You can read the full FantasyFootballStarters article here… NFC Fantasy Football News

My Take – I do not agree with this assessment. I believe the Eagles kept Mike Vic as insurance.

It’s way too early to throw in the towel on Kevin Kolb but there WILL be issues with the Bird’s o-line all season.

Why would you get rid of a quality backup quarterback when your starter got knocked out of the game during his first career start?

Like it or not, Big Red made plans to use Mike Vic as a situational player. That’s another reason why I only viewed Kevin Kolb as fantasy backup. (Vic will vulture TDs in the red-zone)

Note: One of my criticisms of Andy Reid has always been his situational substitutions.

There were times in the past when Brian Westbrook would to get into a nice rhythm running the football and the next play Reid would replace him with Correll Buckhalter.

This usually resulted in a stalled drive, not because of Buck but because it broke the rhythm of the offense.

Now, fast forward to 2010 and it’s happening at the quarterback position.

It will be interesting to see how things play out.

Until next time,
