Your fantasy football draft day is almost here so now is the perfect time to share my Draft Day Check List.

To many of you, this will seem like common sense but I’m sure that you know someone (in your league) who always comes to the draft ill prepared.

Forward this article to them and hopefully this quick checklist will help solve their problem.

1. Cheatsheet

You’ll need a cheatsheet (ex. ESPN, CBSportsline), not something that you scribbled up on a napkin. Of course you can use one of the cheatsheets from one of the many fantasy football magazines but I prefer the Internet.

Example, I have a draft coming this Saturday evening, I’ll print out a cheatsheet on Saturday afternoon. That way I’ll be equipped with the latest info for the draft.

2. Notebook

I usually record each draft pick in my notebook. This allows me to keep up on who was drafted and more important who is still available. This along with my cheat sheet helps me accurately follow the draft.

… Next, take a page in the notebook and record your team and break it down into positions and then bye weeks.

I don’t know how many times I’ve witnessed people draft players at the same position with the same bye week.

So don’t put yourself I that position on draft day.

3. My secret weapon

The guys in my league aren’t reading this, (at least I don’t think they are) so I’m going to share my secret weapon with you.

The  Fantasy Football : ADP sheet, here you can get the average draft position for every player worth drafting.

The site takes the data from various online drafts and compiles the average draft position of each player. I usually create a 250 player sheet and print it out.

This is the most important tool in my draft day arsenal, it comes in handy towards the end of the draft. While others are scrambling to fill in their rosters, I’m still adding value to my team.

So a quick recap…

Get a real cheatsheet for reference

A notebook to record the entire draft

A separate page where you can record your draft picks by position an bye week

And finally, my secret weapon, your average draft analysis sheet.

With these tools in your arsenal you’ll be well equipped to manage and possibly dominate your draft.
